The European Union Ambassador to Sierra Leone, Jacek Jankowski, has expressed serious concern over growing reports of drug trafficking activities involving Sierra Leone, including allegations surrounding fugitive Dutch drug kingpin Jos Leijdekkers, popularly known as “Bolle Jos.”

Speaking during an interview aired on Truth Media, Ambassador Jankowski said the European Union and the Governments of Sierra Leone and the Netherlands continue to maintain strong cooperation and are committed to addressing concerns relating to narcotics trafficking and transnational organized crime.

He emphasized that the European Union remains deeply worried about reports of Sierra Leone being used as a transit point for illegal drugs and the importation of drug-producing chemicals from Europe into the country.

“We do not want to see drugs imported from Sierra Leone to Europe or from Europe into Sierra Leone,” the Ambassador stated, noting that drug trafficking continues to cause devastating consequences both in Europe and within Sierra Leonean communities.

According to him, many lives have been negatively affected by narcotics abuse and trafficking, making it necessary for Governments and international partners to strengthen cooperation in combating the menace.

Ambassador Jankowski disclosed that the European Union has already designed strategies aimed at supporting efforts against drug trafficking and organized criminal networks. He added that the EU is working closely with the Government of Sierra Leone to strengthen border security, improve surveillance mechanisms, and enhance the country’s capacity to prevent illicit drug movements.

He further stressed the need for collective responsibility and vigilance in tackling drug-related crimes, urging authorities and citizens alike to think wisely and support efforts aimed at ending trafficking activities.

The Ambassador also referenced concerns over allegations of aiding and abetting fugitive drug suspect Jos Leijdekkers, as well as reports linking Sierra Leone to international drug transshipment operations.

The European Union, he said, remains committed to supporting Sierra Leone in promoting security, justice, and the rule of law while intensifying collaborative efforts to curb the growing threat posed by international drug trafficking networks.
