“I Would Have Accepted the $100,000 and SUV and Never Walked Out of Parliament” — APC Hon. Tamemkor

APC Member of Parliament, Hon. Alhaji Sorieba Turay, popularly known as “Tamemkor,” has sparked public debate after stating that he would have accepted an alleged offer of US$100,000 and an SUV if such an opportunity had been presented to him.
Speaking during an appearance on Probe Media, Hon. Turay clarified that he was never personally approached or offered the money and vehicle. However, he openly admitted that he would not have rejected the offer had it been made.
“In life, I don’t know whether I will die between here and my house. So, any opportunity that comes my way, I will grab it. If they put this offer before me, I will not be afraid to accept it and I would never have walked out of Parliament. Politics is not a religion,” he stated.
His candid and unfiltered remarks have generated widespread discussion, particularly on social media, with mixed reactions from members of the public and political commentators.
While some have criticised the statement as raising concerns about political integrity and principle, others have described it as an unusually frank expression of his personal views on politics and opportunity.
However, the matter took another dimension following claims by the APC Bombali Caucus Leader, Hon. Peter Yamba, regarding what Hon. Tamemkor allegedly told party members.
According to Hon. Yamba, Tamemkor had informed them that the alleged US$100,000 and SUV were already available at Parliament and were expected to be released after Members of Parliament voted in favour of the Bill.
Hon. Yamba further claimed that Tamemkor made the disclosure in the presence of other Members of Parliament and senior leaders of the APC.
The claims have added to the growing controversy surrounding allegations of political inducement linked to parliamentary proceedings.
Hon. Tamemkor, however, maintained during his Probe Media appearance that he was never personally offered the alleged US$100,000 or an SUV, despite stating that he would have accepted the offer had it been presented to him.
The development is likely to fuel further public debate and calls for clarity over the allegations surrounding the parliamentary process.
