NASSIT Director General Engages Stakeholders in Moyamba

The Director General of the National Social Security and Insurance Trust (NASSIT), Mohamed Fuaad Daboh, on Thursday, 16th April 2026, hosted a high-level working lunch with key stakeholders in Moyamba District. The engagement brought together the Paramount Chief, Members of Parliament, district and chiefdom authorities, employers, employees, pensioners, and members of the public.

In his keynote address, Mr. Daboh underscored the strategic importance of the newly established district office, describing it as a clear demonstration of NASSIT’s commitment to decentralisation. He noted that the facility is intended to bring social security services closer to the people, enhancing accessibility, efficiency, and convenience for residents of Moyamba.
He further emphasised that the presence of the office would significantly reduce the burden on pensioners and contributors who previously had to travel long distances to access services—often under difficult and, at times, life-threatening conditions.
Highlighting compliance as a central priority, the Director General stressed the urgent need for employers to adhere to the NASSIT Act No. 5 of 2001. He reminded stakeholders that social security is both a legal right for every worker and a statutory obligation for every employer in Sierra Leone. He also called on local authorities to strengthen enforcement and promote compliance within their respective jurisdictions.
Mr. Daboh reiterated the Trust’s commitment to expanding coverage to the informal sector, noting that achieving a truly inclusive national scheme requires the integration of traders, farmers, and artisans to ensure they too benefit from social protection and a secure retirement.
He commended the people of Moyamba for their continued support and paid special tribute to Honourable Veronica Kadie Sesay for her instrumental role in securing the land for the district office. He described the project as a milestone achievement made possible through strong community advocacy and effective leadership.
In his welcome remarks, the Paramount Chief of Kaiyamba Chiefdom expressed appreciation to the Director General and his delegation, applauding NASSIT for its investment in the district. He described the development as a significant step forward for Moyamba and commended the professionalism and efficiency of the staff deployed to the new office, while pledging continued support.
Delivering the vote of thanks, Honourable Veronica Kadie Sesay praised the leadership of the Director General and lauded stakeholders for their collective commitment to development. She reaffirmed that the new office stands as a beacon of hope for workers across the district.
Held at the NASSIT District Office in Moyamba, the engagement provided a strategic platform to highlight the Trust’s expanding reach and to reinforce the shared responsibility of safeguarding the welfare of Sierra Leone’s workforce.
