“Extradite Umar Sheriff/Bolle Jos To Show Commitment in Drug Fight’’ …APC Leader Urges Gov’t

By Our Staff Writer

The Leader of the Opposition in Parliament, Abdul Kargbo, has accused the Government of Sierra Leone of trivializing the fight against illicit drugs, questioning its commitment to tackling the growing menace.

Speaking during an interview on Radio Democracy, Kargbo argued that the government’s actions do not reflect a genuine determination to combat drug trafficking and abuse in the country.

“I have said time and again that the Government appears unwilling to seriously address the drug problem,” Kargbo stated. “Let us first deal with Umar Sheriff. If the Government removes and extradites him, that would demonstrate a clear willingness to confront the issue.”

The opposition leader maintained that the government’s response to allegations linking Sierra Leone to international drug trafficking networks has been characterized by denial rather than decisive action.

According to Kargbo, if the authorities are truly committed to winning the fight against drugs, they must acknowledge the challenges facing the country and take concrete measures against individuals and networks allegedly involved in the trade.

His remarks add to the ongoing national debate over drug-related crimes and the effectiveness of government efforts to curb narcotics trafficking and substance abuse in Sierra Leone.
