President Bio Seeks Mining Companies’ Support for West Africa Integration and Investment Summit

President Julius Maada Bio has appealed to mining companies operating in Sierra Leone to partner with the Government in hosting the upcoming West Africa Integration and Investment Summit, scheduled for November.
Speaking during a special luncheon with Chief Executive Officers of mining companies at State House on Thursday, President Bio called on the companies to sponsor and actively support the summit, emphasizing that the private sector has a critical role to play in promoting regional economic integration and investment.
The President stressed that the summit should go beyond discussions and speeches, urging stakeholders to ensure it delivers tangible outcomes by attracting investors to Sierra Leone and the wider West African region.

“This summit must not become just another talk shop. It should serve as a platform to attract strategic investments that will create jobs, stimulate economic growth, and unlock the vast opportunities that exist across the region,” President Bio said.
Special Envoy of the Summit, Hon. Dr. Kandeh K. Yumkella, outlined the objectives of the event, noting that it is designed to position Sierra Leone as a prime investment destination while strengthening regional integration and economic cooperation.
According to Dr. Yumkella, the summit will bring together governments, development partners, investors, financial institutions, and private sector leaders to explore investment opportunities in key sectors of the economy. He added that the initiative is expected to generate increased foreign direct investment, foster strategic partnerships, and create sustainable employment opportunities for Sierra Leoneans.
The November summit is expected to serve as a major platform for showcasing Sierra Leone’s investment potential and advancing West Africa’s agenda for economic integration, trade, and sustainable development.
