Julius Maada Bio has declared himself “Debt Collector One” as the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party intensifies fundraising efforts for the construction of its regional office in Kenema.

Speaking during the laying of the foundation stone for the proposed regional office on Saturday, President Bio called on party stakeholders and supporters to contribute financially toward the completion of the project.

The President announced that pledge cards would be distributed to senior party officials and supporters to enable them to indicate the amount they intend to contribute and the timeline for fulfilling their pledges.

“Today I will issue out a pledge card to all the top officials in the SLPP and other stakeholders of the party. Inside this card, they will write the amount they want to pledge and give the timeline to fulfil it,” President Bio stated.

He added that he would personally oversee the collection process, while Vice President Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh would assist him in the exercise.

“I am going to be Debt Collector One, while the Vice President will serve as Debt Collector Two to collect all the donations for the construction of the SLPP office,” he said.

President Bio further disclosed that he intends to supervise the implementation of the project himself, noting that he wants to take direct responsibility for its management.

“I want to manage this project and learn the management process,” he added.

The President noted that after 75 years, the party’s regional office in Kenema would finally have a permanent structure, ending years of operating from rented premises.

He described Kenema as one of the strongest support bases of the Sierra Leone People’s Party, saying the construction of the regional headquarters reflects the district’s importance to the party.

President Bio also encouraged senior party members and influential stakeholders to make significant contributions toward the project, revealing that the fundraising campaign had already begun with initial pledges from party loyalists and leadership figures.
