Former President Ernest Bai Koroma Meets ECOWAS Commission President in Abuja
Former President of Sierra Leone, H.E. Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma, has held high-level discussions with the President of the ECOWAS Commission, H.E. Dr. Omar Alieu Touray, during a courtesy visit to the Commission’s new headquarters in Abuja, Nigeria.
The meeting served as an opportunity for the two leaders to reaffirm their longstanding relationship and exchange views on issues affecting the West African sub-region, with particular emphasis on strengthening regional cooperation, promoting peace, fostering economic integration, and advancing the objectives of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
The cordial engagement underscored their shared commitment to sustaining regional stability and enhancing collaboration among ECOWAS member states in addressing common political, security, and development challenges.
President Koroma, who served as Sierra Leone’s Head of State from 2007 to 2018, has remained actively engaged in regional and international affairs, while Dr. Touray continues to lead the ECOWAS Commission in advancing the bloc’s vision of deeper integration, democratic governance, and sustainable development across West Africa.
The visit reflects the enduring ties between Sierra Leone’s former leadership and the ECOWAS Commission, reinforcing the importance of dialogue and cooperation in promoting peace, unity, and progress throughout the region.
