Parliament Unanimously Bans Sign-out Celebrations In Schools and Colleges

Parliament has unanimously approved a ban on all sign-out celebrations in schools and tertiary institutions across Sierra Leone, effectively ending a popular student tradition that has become a subject of national debate.

The decision followed a motion moved by the Acting Leader of Government Business and Majority Leader, Hon. Bashiru Silikie, which received the unanimous support of Members of Parliament.

Following the resolution, the Speaker of Parliament, Hon. Segepo Solomon Thomas, directed the Clerk of Parliament to formally communicate the decision to the relevant ministries for implementation.

The move signals Parliament’s intention to address concerns surrounding sign-out activities in educational institutions across the country.
