CDIID Opens Investigation into Portee Wharf Cocaine Seizure

Credible information have reached Voice of Salone Newspaper revealed that the Sierra Leone Police Complaints, Discipline and Internal Investigations Department (CDIID) has opened investigation into the cocaine seizure at Portee Wharf by police officers.
According to sources, police officers who were part of the operation that led to the seizure of the suspected narcotic substance believed to be cocaine have been invited by the CDIID, where statements have reportedly been obtained from some of them as part of the ongoing inquiry.
Information available to this newspaper indicates that the investigation has commenced, with some officers already invited to provide statements, while others are yet to be interviewed by investigators.
Sources further allege that several police personnel of varying ranks, including constables, sergeants, superintendents, a Chief superintendent, and an Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Police, are among those considered persons of interest in the investigation. However, Voice of Salone Newspaper has not independently verified the full scope of the inquiry or the identities of those involved.
It remains unclear whether investigators have obtained statements from all individuals considered relevant to the matter or what findings, if any, have emerged at this stage.
