Pres. Bio Urges Youth to Reject Drugs and Crime, Cites Global Pressures on Economy

President Julius Maada Bio has called on young people across Sierra Leone to steer clear of drugs, substance abuse, and criminal activities, emphasizing that the nation depends on their full strength, sound judgment, and vibrant talents for its future development.
Delivering his Independence message, the President stressed that the role of young people is critical in shaping a stable and prosperous country. He urged them to remain focused, disciplined, and committed to positive pursuits that will contribute meaningfully to national growth.
Addressing the country’s economic situation, President Bio acknowledged the challenges facing Sierra Leone, noting that they are largely driven by global instability. He pointed to external pressures, including fluctuations in international markets and economic disruptions worldwide, as key factors affecting the nation’s economy.
Despite these challenges, the President assured citizens that his government is actively implementing measures to stabilize the economy and improve living conditions. He highlighted ongoing efforts aimed at strengthening economic resilience, supporting key sectors, and creating opportunities for sustainable growth.
President Bio reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to navigating the country through these difficulties while calling for collective responsibility, particularly from the youth, in building a stronger and more resilient Sierra Leone.
