The spokesperson of the All People’s Congress (APC), Sidie Yayah Tunis, has appealed to the Government of Sierra Leone to grant former President Ernest Bai Koroma the opportunity to attend the funeral of the party’s late National Chairman, Alhaji Minkailu Mansaray.

Speaking to Truth Media, Tunis described the late Mansaray as a close political ally and brother to former President Koroma, noting that the two men shared a long political journey together.

“The late Alhaji Minkailu Mansaray was like a brother to former President Koroma. They practiced politics together for many years. It would be very difficult and painful if the former President is unable to attend his funeral,” Tunis stated.

He said that although formal discussions with the Government may not yet have commenced, he is appealing for consideration to be given to allowing the former President to participate in the funeral rites.

According to Tunis, such a gesture would not only honor the memory of the late APC Chairman but would also serve as a unifying moment for the APC and the people of Sierra Leone.

He further disclosed that a joint committee comprising representatives of the APC and the family of the late Mansaray has been established to coordinate funeral arrangements.

“We are expecting clearer information from Senegal today regarding the repatriation of his remains, and this will be communicated to the public as soon as it becomes available,” he said.

Tunis also called on Sierra Leoneans and APC supporters to continue praying for the late Alhaji Minkailu Mansaray, asking God to grant him eternal rest. He urged party members to remain calm and peaceful during this period of mourning.

“We continue to pray that God grants him paradise and comfort to his family, friends, and supporters. We also urge all party members to remain calm as arrangements for his final farewell continue,” he concluded.
