The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change has reported collecting a total of NLe594,083 in revenue from selected forestry and environmental activities during 2025 and the first eight months of 2026.
The figures were disclosed during the FY2027 Budget Preparation Process, organised by the Ministry of Finance in collaboration with the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development at the Miatta Civic Centre in Freetown.
According to the Ministry’s revenue breakdown, NLe324,316 was collected between January and December 2025 from various forestry-related revenue streams.
These included transport permits for charcoal, poles and timber; power saw registration fees; harvesting licences for power saw operations; and royalties generated from Gbalamnya.
For the period covering January to August 2026, the Ministry reported an additional NLe269,767 in revenue from the same categories.
The combined revenue for the two reporting periods amounts to NLe594,083.
The figures form part of the Ministry’s submission to the FY2027 budget preparation process and provide an overview of revenue generated from forestry and environmental activities.
The disclosure also highlights the Ministry’s role in regulating forestry operations and mobilising domestic revenue through permits, licences, registrations and royalties within the sector.
