Six-Day Demolition Exercise Begins at Aberdeen Creek Estuary

A six-day demolition exercise is underway at the Aberdeen Creek estuary as authorities intensify efforts to protect the environmentally sensitive area.

The operation is being led by the National Protected Area Authority (NPAA), in collaboration with the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF), Sierra Leone Police (SLP), and the National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA).

The exercise targets structures reportedly erected within the protected estuary, as authorities seek to enforce environmental regulations and safeguard Sierra Leone’s coastal ecosystems.

The joint operation forms part of ongoing efforts to prevent encroachment and protect vulnerable coastal areas from further degradation.
