Over 800 Wraps of Suspected Kush Seized in Police Raids
The Congo Cross Police Division has intensified its crackdown on illicit drug activity within the Western Urban District, carrying out coordinated raids that resulted in multiple arrests and the seizure of a significant quantity of suspected narcotics.
The operations — conducted between 8:40 a.m. and 3:10 p.m. — were led by Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Sahr Nyuma, Local Unit Commander of the Congo Cross Division, and coordinated by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Amadu Babah Kanu, the Operations Officer.
At approximately 9:00 a.m., officers aboard police vehicle SLP 147 raided the Murray Town Market, where they arrested Idrissa Kamara and confiscated 124 wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Kush.
The team then proceeded to the Kolo Stick Manfengbeh Community, where two makeshift structures allegedly used for the sale of Kush and other illegal substances were dismantled.
Later, at about 3:10 p.m., officers executed a search warrant at No. 8 Rassmusson Street, behind Siaka Stevens Stadium in Freetown. During the operation, Alfred Kanu and Mariama Bangura were arrested after police discovered 707 wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Kush, along with additional loose quantities concealed in a black plastic bag.
All suspects are in police custody assisting with the investigation, while the seized substances have been secured as evidence.
