Mohamed Kallon Exposes Power Struggle Between NSA and SLFA

Sacked Leone Stars Head Coach, Mohamed Kallon, has revealed what he describes as a deep-rooted power struggle between the National Sports Authority (NSA) and the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), which he says significantly affected his tenure.

Kallon disclosed that disagreements between the two institutions over financial responsibility led to delays in finalizing his contract.

“What caused the delay for my contract to be signed is the disagreement between NSA and SLFA as to who is responsible to pay my salary,” he revealed.

According to him, the lack of clarity and coordination between the NSA and SLFA created administrative bottlenecks that undermined his role from the outset.

The former coach also alleged that his dismissal was unjust, maintaining that due process was not properly followed. He expressed disappointment over how his tenure ended, despite what he described as efforts to build a competitive national team.

Kallon further claimed that he faced undue interference in team selection, alleging that the SLFA imposed certain players on him for international fixtures.

He suggested that such actions compromised his technical independence and affected his ability to manage the team effectively.

Reflecting on his time in charge, Kallon said his primary ambition was to qualify Sierra Leone for the Africa Cup of Nations and the FIFA World Cup, while also strengthening the overall competitiveness of the squad.

He noted that during his tenure, he made significant progress in rebuilding the team, improving cohesion, and enhancing performance levels—developments he believes made the Leone Stars more competitive and admired.

Kallon’s revelations have reignited public debate about governance and administrative coordination within Sierra Leone’s football sector. His claims highlight the need for clearer institutional roles and improved collaboration to support the growth and success of the national team.
