LAJ & Prezo Koroma Granted Bail in Cybercrime Case

Popular Sierra Leonean rapper Alhaji Amadu Bah, widely known as LAJ, and media personality Prezo Koroma have been granted bail after weeks of legal proceedings in Bo.
The two had been remanded at the Bo Correctional Centre following their appearance before Magistrate Court No. 2, where they are facing charges of cyberbullying and insulting conduct contrary to the Cyber Security and Crime Act of 2021.
According to court documents, the charges stem from a video allegedly circulated on social media in March 2026. Prosecutors contend that the content was intended to demean and inflict emotional distress on a complainant, with remarks reportedly directed at the Mayor of Kenema.
Earlier bail applications were denied, leading to their continued detention as preliminary hearings progressed. However, in a recent ruling, the court approved bail for both accused persons under conditions that are yet to be publicly disclosed.
Their release is expected to allow them adequate time and access to prepare their defense ahead of the next phase of the trial.
The case has generated considerable public attention, particularly within Sierra Leone’s entertainment industry, where LAJ remains a prominent and influential figure.
Proceedings have been adjourned to May 5, 2026, when the court will resume hearings and consider further submissions. In the meantime, the court has directed all parties to refrain from making public or social media comments about the case until its conclusion.
