The National Secretary General of the APC, Lansana Dumbuya Esq., on Friday 12th Januray,2024 being invited by the Criminal Investigation Department in relation to a press release he issued out expressing support for the Former President Ernest Bai Koroma amid coup allegations and treason charges levied against him.
Dumbuya shared the ugly development in his twitter page, stating that “interesting development, I have just been invited to the CID for issuing out a press statement in support of Former President Ernest Bai Koroma”.
In a press release dated 11th January,2024 signed by Lansana Dumbuya, the APC registered their profound disappointment and anger over what they described as unjust prosecution of their Former Chairman and Leader, Ernest Bai Koroma. The APC categorically condemns the accusation of political vendetta and involvement in a coup d’etat, emphasizing Koroma’s dedication to promoting peace, democratic governance and smooth transition of power across Africa since leaving power in 2018.
After reading through the contents of the APC, the criminal Investigation Department summoned the APC Secretary for questioning. The APC Secretary General honored the CID invitation and availed himself for interrogation. Dumbuya said “I have just returned home from the CID after police questioning on the November 27, 2023 and 11 January 2024 Press statement. It is all about the Press Statement issued in support of our Former President Ernest Bai Koroma”, he concluded.
As up to the time of going to press, it is not clear whether there will be further questioning or charges on the issue.
