Tragedy in Falaba: Pregnant Woman Dies After Ambulance Gets Trapped on Poor Road

A pregnant woman from Farawa, Wolabara Chiefdom, Falaba District, has reportedly died while being transferred to Kabala Government Hospital in neighbouring Koinadugu District after poor road conditions hampered her emergency referral.
According to Museh Radio 98.5 FM, Falaba District Medical Officer Dr. Daniel Lavalie said the first ambulance dispatched to transport the woman became stuck on the road, forcing health authorities to send a second ambulance.
However, the woman reportedly died during the transfer process before reaching the hospital.
The tragic incident has raised renewed concerns about the challenges posed by poor road infrastructure to emergency healthcare delivery, particularly for pregnant women and critically ill patients in remote communities.
The incident also underscores the importance of accessible roads and reliable emergency transport in ensuring that patients receive timely medical attention when every minute counts.
