ONGA Reassures Consumers After Independent Laboratory Tests

Premium Divine Trading Limited, the Sierra Leone representative of Promasidor Ghana Limited, has reassured consumers about the safety of ONGA Shrimp Seasoning following independent laboratory tests conducted by the Sierra Leone Standards Bureau (SLSB).

The company’s statement follows a recent social media publication raising concerns about the safety of the product. Premium Divine Trading Limited described the claims as false and said they were not supported by credible evidence.

In response to the concerns, the company submitted a sample of ONGA Shrimp Seasoning, Batch Number 10326V, to the SLSB Testing Laboratories for independent food microbiology and food chemistry analysis.

According to the Certificates of Analysis issued by the laboratory, the sample was tested as received, with the results found to be within the applicable specification limits outlined in the reports.

The specifications were based on relevant Sierra Leone national standards and ECOWAS regional standards.

The microbiological examination covered aerobic plate count, coliforms, yeasts and moulds, and Salmonella. The company said all results were within the specified limits, with Salmonella absent in the tested sample.

The food chemistry analysis examined moisture content, sodium chloride, total ash content and total acidity, with all results also reported to be within the applicable specification limits.

Based on the laboratory findings, Premium Divine Trading Limited said the tested batch of ONGA Shrimp Seasoning complied with the applicable microbiological and chemical safety requirements.

The company said consumer safety and product quality remain a priority, adding that ONGA products are manufactured under established quality-control procedures and in accordance with applicable regulatory and food-quality requirements.

“We respect the right of consumers to ask questions and seek accurate information,” the company said, while urging members of the public and social media users to rely on verified evidence and official sources before sharing claims that could cause unnecessary concern.

Consumers with questions or complaints about ONGA products have been advised to retain the product and its packaging, note the relevant batch number and contact the company’s consumer-care team on +232 30 070 710 or through its social media platforms.

The company said the information would enable it to properly investigate complaints and provide an appropriate response.

Premium Divine Trading Limited thanked consumers across Sierra Leone for their continued trust and reaffirmed its commitment to providing quality seasoning products.
