Zainab Sheriff Plans To Take PPRC to Court

By VOS Staff Writer

Zainab Sheriff, a popular entertainer and member of the All People’s Congress (APC), has announced plans to take the Political Parties Registration Commission (PPRC) to court, accusing the body of hypocrisy and intimidation against her.

Speaking on the issue, Sheriff expressed strong dissatisfaction with the fine imposed on her over what the PPRC described as profane and provocative statements made during the APC mammoth rally at the Attouga Mini Stadium.

She warned the APC leadership not to pay the fine on her behalf, stating that doing so would attract legal action from her.

“If the APC pays the fine for me, I will take them to court,” she said.

Sheriff further maintained that as a Sierra Leonean citizen, she has the right to express herself and that if the PPRC believes she committed an offence, it should pursue the matter through the courts.

“If the PPRC thinks I have done wrong, let them take me to court,” she added.

The development comes amid growing tensions between the APC and the PPRC following disciplinary actions taken against party officials over recent political statements.
