Trump Orders Five-Day Pause on Strikes Against Iran Amid Ongoing Talks

U.S. President Donald J. Trump has directed a temporary halt to planned military strikes against Iran, signaling a possible de-escalation in tensions between the two nations.

According to a statement published on the official page of the United States Department of State about an hour ago, President Trump ordered the U.S. Department of Defense to postpone any and all strikes targeting Iranian power plants and energy infrastructure for a period of five days.

The directive comes amid ongoing diplomatic engagements between the United States and Iran aimed at resolving hostilities in the Middle East.

In the statement, President Trump expressed optimism over recent developments, noting that both countries have engaged in “very good and productive conversations” over the past two days regarding a potential resolution to the conflict.

“Based on the tenor and tone of these in-depth, detailed, and constructive discussions, which will continue throughout the week, I have instructed the Department of Defense to postpone any and all military strikes against Iranian power plants and energy infrastructure for a five-day period,” the statement read.

The pause in military action is said to be conditional, depending on the outcome of the ongoing negotiations.

This latest move is being viewed as a significant step toward de-escalation, as diplomatic efforts continue to take center stage in addressing the crisis in the Middle East.
