Rokel Commercial Bank Strengthens Partnership with IPAM

Rokel Commercial Bank has reaffirmed its long-standing partnership with the Institute of Public Administration and Management (IPAM), University of Sierra Leone, following a courtesy visit to the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Professor Ezekiel Duramany-Lakkoh, at the university’s campus in Freetown on Friday, 9 January 2026.

Leading the bank’s delegation, the Head of Public Relations, Mr. Aruna Dumbuya, said the visit was intended to express appreciation to the university management and community for the enduring and mutually beneficial relationship between Rokel Commercial Bank and IPAM. He described the partnership as historic and assured the university of the bank’s continued and expanded support.

Mr. Dumbuya noted that as Sierra Leone’s leading indigenous bank, Rokel Commercial Bank remains committed to supporting institutions that contribute meaningfully to national development, in line with its corporate mandate to complement government efforts. He reaffirmed the bank’s willingness to support IPAM “in every possible way,” particularly in initiatives aimed at student development and the broader national interest.

During the engagement, Mr. Dumbuya formally introduced the bank’s newly appointed Marketing Manager, Mrs. Micheala Dora Macauley, whom he said would build on the achievements of her predecessor and further strengthen the cordial relationship between the bank and the university. He assured IPAM that the bank would continue to support student-focused programmes and activities.

He further highlighted Rokel Commercial Bank’s consistent commitment to student welfare at IPAM, citing the refurbishment of the IPAM canteen and the bank’s support to various student bodies in the execution of their programmes and activities.

In her remarks, Mrs. Micheala Dora Macauley described IPAM as her alma mater and expressed pride in working with an institution that played a significant role in her professional development. She pledged to do everything possible to sustain and deepen the strong relationship between Rokel Commercial Bank and IPAM.

Mrs. Macauley also acknowledged IPAM’s contribution to the growth of Rokel Commercial Bank, noting the strong patronage of the bank’s services by both students and staff. She assured the university of an open-door policy, stressing that under her leadership, the marketing department would remain responsive and supportive of IPAM-related initiatives.

Responding, Professor Ezekiel Duramany-Lakkoh commended Rokel Commercial Bank, describing it as one of the best banks in the country in terms of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). He encouraged the bank to further identify with the university and increase its investments on campus to enhance visibility and mutual benefit.

Professor Duramany-Lakkoh also highlighted IPAM’s contribution to the bank, revealing that over 5,000 IPAM students are currently registered customers of Rokel Commercial Bank. He further praised the Managing Director of the bank for his consistent availability and support to the university, particularly through teaching engagements and guest lectures, which he said have greatly benefited both students and staff.

The meeting ended with mutual assurances from Rokel Commercial Bank and IPAM to continue strengthening their collaboration and sustaining the cordial relationship that has existed between the two institutions over the years.
