President Bio Announces New Appointments to State Boards and Agencies

President Julius Maada Bio has unveiled a new slate of appointments to key state boards and agencies, marking a significant step in shaping governance across multiple sectors of the national economy.
According to an official notice issued by the Office of the President on Thursday, Mr. John Gbondo Margai has been appointed Chairman of the Sierra Leone Roads Authority (SLRA), while Mr. Allieu Kokobay will serve as Chairman of the National Tourist Board.
Additional high-profile appointments include Mr. Gerald Demby as Chairman of the National Water Resources Management Agency; Rev. Dr. T.T. Samba as Chairman of the University of Sierra Leone Teaching Hospitals Complex; and Ms. Christabel Adama Decker as Deputy Director General of the Financial Intelligence Agency.
The announcement also introduced several deputy director generals and board members across strategic institutions such as the National Water Resources Management Agency, National Shipping Agency, Meteorological Agency, Road Maintenance Fund Administration, and the Road Safety Authority.
Regional representation was further reinforced through the appointment of board members to the Produce Monitoring Board for the Eastern and Southern Regions, alongside new appointments to the Political Parties Regulation Commission and the Sierra Leone Electricity and Water Regulatory Commission.
The appointments—some of which require parliamentary approval—signal the administration’s commitment to strengthening public institutions and enhancing effective service delivery across national sectors.
The notice was formally signed by Barba B. Fortune, Secretary to the President.
