Over August 10 Violence… RSLAF/18181866 CPL Abu Bakarr Kamara Name in Police wanted list

Reports reaching this medium revealed that one Abu Bakarr Kamara, a soldier with Army number 18181866 CPL was named in Police wanted list in relation to the August 10 riot that resulted to the death of some 35 civilians and 6 police officers.

According to the investigation mounted by this medium, it is revealed by Kamara’s friend that the former was discharged from the army for security reasons, adding that one particular morning Kamara was called upon by the Joint *Force Commander to control the Angry protesters that stormed the street of Freetown on August 10th 2022 during the protest that occurred at the Central Business District.

The Civilians were able to overpowered the police officers and in the event fired live gunshots. Gunshots were also fired by the police officers to dispatch the crowds but the protesters repelled them and in the event, the Army officers arrived at the scene to put the situation under control.

On 12th August, the Army spokesman revealed that those who were at the scene of protest were Angry protesters as they succeeded in overpowering the police officers.

Investigation also uncovered that the said army officer was part of the protest and that led him to be declared wanted and charged him with conspiracy to commit Felony and subversion of peace.

Investigation unearthed a missing Riffle known as AK 47 weapon with full magazine. This led to the suspected military personnel to be declared wanted accompanied by the forceful retirement of the Chief of Defence Staff Lt. Gen.Sullay Sesay . General Sullay was forced to retirement and his surbordinate who was serving as Joint Force Commander was later appointed as the new Chief of Defense Staff (CDS ).

It was revealed by family sources that Abu Bakarr Kamara left freetown as soon as he had the *news and went to a village called Tonko Limba.

As a result of that, the security apparatus we’re searching for Kamara in his house with threatening remarks being levied against his family particularly his kids and wife that if they failed to produce their husband/father, they will kill them. The children and Wife later left the city and sought refuge to a village called Songo.

Sources also say that Abu Bakarr Kamara continued to stay in Tonko Limba Village till December 2022 until he left for a neighbouring Country Called Guinea.

As the media pressed the police to comment on the disappearances of those Military personnel that were declare wanted, the media officer of the police explained that a list of wanted persons had been published, but there were others that they are looking for, and if seen, they will be arrested and brought to book.

As we go to press, the whereabouts of CPL Abu Bakarr Kamara is still unknown, and family members are afraid that he may have been killed.

Furthermore, many relatives of people killed during the August 10 riots by their security forces, have not been able to identify their loved ones at the country’s main mortuary, because the facility is under heavy police and military protection.
