His Excellency President Dr Julius Maada Bio on Monday received the outgoing Chief Executive Officer of Orange Sierra Leone, Mr Sekou Amadou Bah, at State House in Freetown, as the telecom executive paid a farewell courtesy call following the completion of his four-year tenure in the country.

The meeting also marked the formal introduction of Orange Sierra Leone’s new Chief Executive Officer, Madam Aicha Toure. Mr Bah assured President Bio that the company’s long-standing partnership with the Government of Sierra Leone would not only be sustained but further strengthened under the new leadership.

Mr Bah expressed profound appreciation to President Bio for fostering a stable and enabling business environment, which, he noted, allowed Orange Sierra Leone to thrive and expand its operations. He also extended gratitude to the people of Sierra Leone for their unwavering support throughout his tenure.

Reflecting on his time in office, the outgoing CEO highlighted the strong collaboration between Orange Sierra Leone and the government, which, he said, delivered tangible results across key sectors including education, digital inclusion, infrastructure development, and healthcare.

“Orange Sierra Leone remains committed to improving lives, from the construction of schools and health facilities to investments in infrastructure and digital learning centres,” Mr Bah stated. “I am deeply grateful to Your Excellency and the people of Sierra Leone for the cooperation and support we received.”

He further assured the President that the company would continue to align its corporate social responsibility programmes and investments with the government’s national development priorities, adding that the incoming CEO would consolidate existing gains while expanding strategic partnerships.

In her remarks, the new CEO, Madam Aicha Toure, thanked President Bio for the warm reception and pledged to build on the achievements of her predecessor. She reaffirmed her commitment to strengthening the telecommunications sector, promoting innovation, and empowering young people through digital solutions.

President Julius Maada Bio, in response, commended Mr Bah for his service and acknowledged the positive impact Orange Sierra Leone made during his leadership. He noted that the company’s investments, particularly in education and digital development, were in line with the government’s Human Capital Development and Digital Inclusion agenda.

The President wished Mr Bah success in his future endeavours and formally welcomed Madam Toure, emphasizing the vital role of effective communication and technology in driving national development. He encouraged telecommunications operators to provide quality, affordable, and competitive services, while assuring the government’s continued support for the sector.

“This is home, and you are welcome to Sierra Leone,” President Bio said, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to a strong, mutually beneficial partnership with Orange Sierra Leone.
