New York Protesters Accuse President Bio of Turning Sierra Leone into Drug State

By VOS Writer

Sierra Leoneans living in the United States staged a protest against the government of President Julius Maada Bio, accusing it of turning the country into a hub for drug cartels.

Protesters carried placards and chanted slogans denouncing what they described as the administration’s failure to address the growing drug crisis, which they say is devastating the nation’s youth.

“Our youths are dying from drug consumption,” the protesters declared, while calling on the U.S. Government and the European Union to intervene and help curb the menace.

The demonstration followed explosive reports alleging that Agnes Bio, the President’s daughter, recently gave birth to a child purportedly fathered by Jos Leijdekkers, also known as Bolle Jos, one of Europe’s most wanted drug kingpins.

The allegations have intensified public anger, with critics claiming the scandal underscores the government’s entanglement in international drug networks.
