King’s Production Accused of Violating Workers’ Rights

By VoS Writer

King’s Production (SL) Ltd, a Freetown-based company specializing in non-alcoholic beverage manufacturing, is facing mounting scrutiny over allegations of severe labor rights violations. The company, located at 50 Bai Bureh Road, has been accused of subjecting its workers to what some have described as exploitative and inhumane working conditions.

According to reports received by this newspaper from both current and former employees, the company allegedly enforces:
• Excessively long working hours with little or no adequate compensation;
• Unsafe working environments, allegedly leading to the death of a senior staff member under unclear circumstances;
• A lack of transparency regarding the staff member’s death, including claims that no autopsy was conducted and the family has not received compensation;
• A workplace culture marked by fear and intimidation, with employees reportedly dismissed without pay for raising concerns.
“King’s Production (SL) Ltd is destroying our lives,” said one distressed employee who spoke on condition of anonymity. “We have nowhere to complain, and if we do, we are fired without pay.”

These disturbing accounts raise serious questions about potential breaches of Sierra Leone’s labor laws, as well as international labor standards relating to workers’ rights, occupational safety, and fair treatment.

The reported fatality at the company has particularly alarmed labor rights advocates. Allegations that the incident was not properly investigated and that the victim’s family received neither answers nor compensation further compound the controversy.

When contacted via WhatsApp for comment, the company’s CEO, Mr. Khalil Hijazi, replied only: “Contact Solomon and clarify.” Follow-up messages seeking clarification went unanswered.

As an impartial media organization committed to ethical journalism and the Media Code of Practice, we will continue to investigate these allegations thoroughly and provide updates as the story develops.
