During the SLPP 13th National Delegate Conference held at the Bintumani International Conference hall, the First Lady of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Madam Fatima Maada Bio, expressed her anger over the SLPP Ministers for not sympathizing with her during a horrific accident involving her convoy whilst on their way from Kono to Freetown. “During a horrific accident wherein one of my convoy vehicles rammed with a truck; thousands of SLPP Grassroots reached out to me to express their sympathy and offered prayers, but only 10% of the SLPP Ministers did the same”, the First Lady revealed, stating that the sad incident has actually shown that she is not safe and appealed to the President and Government to increase her security details especially when she is the target.
She added that: “I might not be the President, but if I am the one they want to kill, then I think I need protection; I need protection not only as the wife of the President but as an SLPP Member who has one of the largest constituencies (i.e the Children, Women and Girls)”.
With what has happened to her, the First Lady said, she will not be in the position to continue doing her job until the necessary security arrangements are put together.
