APC Publicist Explains Criteria for Compiling Provisional Voters List
The All People’s Congress (APC) Publicist, Mr. Sidie Yayah Tunis, has outlined the criteria and procedures being used in the preparation of the party’s Provisional Voters List, underscoring measures aimed at ensuring transparency, accuracy, and fairness throughout the process.
Speaking on the exercise, Mr. Tunis explained that the compilation of the provisional list is being conducted strictly in accordance with the APC Constitution, which clearly defines the eligibility requirements for party members.
According to him, a member qualifies to be included on the Provisional Voters List only if their party status is current, particularly with respect to the payment of membership subscriptions and dues. He emphasized that financial compliance remains a fundamental constitutional requirement for participation in party electoral processes.
Mr. Tunis further stated that party members who are in arrears—especially those intending to contest for positions within the party—must first settle their outstanding subscriptions to be deemed eligible. He noted that the party is currently undertaking a verification process to confirm the membership status of all aspirants and delegates.
“The APC Constitution is clear on who qualifies as a voter within the party. Anyone whose subscriptions are not up to date will be required to regularize their status before they can be included on the Provisional Voters List or contest for any position,” he said.
The APC Publicist assured members and the general public that the process is being carried out in a credible and impartial manner, with safeguards in place to prevent manipulation and ensure that only duly qualified members participate in internal party elections.
He encouraged all members with outstanding obligations to take advantage of the ongoing verification period to regularize their membership, stressing that the party remains committed to upholding internal democracy and constitutional order.
The preparation of the Provisional Voters List forms a critical part of the APC’s broader efforts to strengthen internal governance, accountability, and democratic practices ahead of forthcoming party activities.
