Another APC MP Joins Mohamed Bangura In Parliament

Honourable Alfred Ayodele Thompson has joined Hon. Mohamed Bangura as the second APC MP to take his seat in the Well of Parliament on Tuesday 8th August,2023.

Hon. Alfred Ayodele Thompson subscribed to the oath of office as Member of Parliament representing the opposition All People’s Congress in the Western Urban. He is the second APC MP to have taken the oath of office as APC MP, while leaving 52 more APC MPs to take the oath of office for Members of Parliament, following the conduct of the June 24th General Elections.

The Clerk of Parliament administered the oath of office to Hon. Thompson.
During the course of subscribing and signing the Oath of Office for a Member of Parliament, the MP said that he would bear true faith and allegiance to the Republic of Sierra Leone as by law established and that he would also uphold and defend the Constitution of Sierra Leone and that he would faithfully and conscientiously discharge the duties of a Member of Parliament.

The Sixth Parliament now has 97 Members of Parliament, including Paramount Chief MPs who have successfully subscribed the Oath of Office signifying 81 SLPP MPs, 14 PCMPs, and 2 APC MPs from Karene District in the North Western Region and Western Urban, in Freetown.

After subscribing oath of office, the MP was accompanied to his seat by the Majority Leader and Leader of Government Business, Hon. Mathew Sahr Nyuma, and the Acting Opposition Leader, Hon. Mohamed Bangura.

Extending his felicitations and congratulatory messages, the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Dr. Abass Chernor Bundu said he heartily and warmly welcomed the MP for rightfully taking his seat in Parliament to perform his constitutional roles and responsibilities to the people of Sierra Leone. He assured him of parliamentary privileges and immunities including protection and support. The Speaker used the occasion to call on other APC MPs to follow suit.
