ACC To Auction High-Value Properties Seized as Unexplained Wealth in NRA Corruption Case

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has announced plans to dispose of three luxury residential properties seized as unexplained wealth following investigations into alleged corruption at the National Revenue Authority (NRA).

The disclosure was made by ACC Commissioner, Francis Ben Kaifala, Esq., who confirmed that the properties will be sold through public auction or private treaty, in strict compliance with a court order. Proceeds from the sale are expected to return billions of leones to the State, reinforcing the Commission’s asset-recovery mandate.

Among the properties is a three-storey, ultra-modern seaside residence, described as one of the most valuable assets recovered in the case. The property is fully furnished and equipped with advanced electronic security systems, smart-home technology, and high-end finishes throughout. It also includes a penthouse offering panoramic ocean views, a swimming pool area, and boys’ quarters, all completed to exceptional modern standards.

Commissioner Ben Kaifala stated that a reserve price will be determined following a professional valuation of the properties.

“We have a court order to sell this property and two other large houses declared as unexplained wealth and return the proceeds to the people of Sierra Leone without delay,” the Commissioner said.

He encouraged interested buyers with legitimate and verifiable sources of income to prepare for the upcoming sale, noting that the disposal exercise forms part of the ACC’s broader asset-recovery and restitution strategy.

The Commissioner further described the move as a clear demonstration of the government’s unwavering commitment to fighting corruption, emphasizing that no individual will be allowed to enjoy the proceeds of illicitly acquired wealth under the administration of President Julius Maada Bio.

While the dates and modalities for the auction have not yet been announced, the ACC assured the public that full details will be communicated once valuation processes are concluded.
