Workers Cry Foul Over EDSA Employment Selection Process

By VOS Staff Writer
Information reaching Voice of Salone Newspaper indicates that the management of the Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA) is in the process of upgrading a number of its casual workers to permanent staff.
However, the exercise has reportedly generated serious controversy within the institution. While over 50 casual staff names were initially identified for possible regularisation, credible information reveals that only 15 individuals have so far been selected.
Sources within EDSA allege that the selection process was not based on merit, length of service, or performance, but rather on political influence and family connections, leaving many long-serving casual workers feeling sidelined and betrayed.
The development has sparked widespread discontent among affected workers, some of whom are said to have served the institution diligently for several years under casual contracts. According to insiders, tensions escalated to the point where workers contemplated industrial action, including a possible strike, after learning that a select few had been favoured for permanent employment while the majority remain in precarious positions.
Staff members have expressed frustration over what they describe as a lack of transparency and fairness in the employment upgrade process, warning that the situation could disrupt operations at EDSA if not urgently addressed.
As of press time, management of EDSA has not officially responded to the allegations. Workers are reportedly calling on the relevant authorities to intervene and ensure that any employment regularisation process is fair, inclusive, and free from political or familial interference.
