Where’s the Suspicious Narcotics Drugs containers impounded at Freetown Port?

Sometime in April, 2024, a suspicious narcotic drugs containers were intercepted and impounded at the Freetown Ports, by an operation team known as Sea Corporation Project (SEACOP), comprising of various enforcement agencies like Customs, Anti-Corruption Commission, Sierra Leone Police, and others, who carried out a thorough inspection of the suspected containers.

The investigation of the suspected containers yielded significant findings as follows:

– Container No. 1 concealed One Hundred (100) packets, each suspected to be 1 Kilogram of dried leaves believed to be Kush, cleverly hidden in suitcases and a plastic container.

– Container No. 2 revealed a cache of contraband:
– Ten (10) packets, each believed to contain 1 kilogram of suspected Kush.
– Six (6) small bottles of liquid, suspected to be precursor chemicals.
– Eight (8) gallons, each containing Five (5) liters of liquid, also suspected to be precursor chemicals.
– Additionally, ten (10) more packets of suspected Kush, two (2) giant paper bags containing 10 kilograms each, one (1) black plastic bag of shredded leaves believed to be Kush, and fifteen (15) small white plastic bags labeled Tapiokaperlen 400g were found.

Following the operation, six suspects have been apprehended and are currently aiding authorities in their investigations. It was understood that the Sierra Leone Ports and Harbour Authority (SLPHA) sealed and secured the containers pending further actions.

Since then, the general public is yet to be updated about the latest of those suspected containers, whether they have been released or not.

Recently, news filtering into this press that the two narcotic drugs containers had been released long ago, and in our bid to verify this statement, this newspaper contacted a senior official at the Freetown Port, but he is unable to furnish us with explicit information leading to the whereabouts of the suspected containers.
