UBA Sierra Leone Organizes Orientation Ceremony for New Recruits

UBA Sierra Leone on Saturday, 1st November 2025, held its induction and orientation program for employees recruited from January 2025 to date, including graduates from the recently concluded Graduate Management Acceleration Programme (GMAP). The event took place at the bank’s Head Office Conference Room on Charlotte Street, Freetown.
Welcoming the new team members, the Managing Director/CEO, Mohamed Alhajie Samoura, underscored the importance of quality talent in advancing the bank’s strategic vision.
“We don’t just need people; we need the right people to help us achieve our objectives. We are internal customers of the bank because when we get it right internally, we can satisfy our customers externally. It’s never done until the customer says ‘thank you,’” he noted.
Also speaking at the event, Chief Operating Officer, Ngede Chiedu, congratulated the recruits and encouraged them to uphold professionalism, integrity, and teamwork at all times, stressing that every employee is a reflection of the UBA brand.
Millicent Yormah, Country Head of Human Capital Management, led a session on the bank’s code of conduct and corporate dress ethics, advising the recruits to always maintain a professional image befitting the institution.
In a presentation titled “Living the Brand,” Sallieu Sesay, Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications, highlighted effective internal and external communication practices and encouraged staff to embody UBA’s brand values in their daily work.
Heads and representatives from key departments—including Chief Inspectorate, Treasury, Financial Control, Credit and Risk, Internal Control, and others—delivered insightful presentations, equipping new employees with an understanding of departmental functions and their relevance to UBA’s overall strategic mission.
Delivering the vote of thanks, new staff member Mohamed Koroma expressed gratitude on behalf of his colleagues, commending management and facilitators for the knowledge-rich engagement. He pledged the commitment of all new hires to contribute meaningfully to UBA Sierra Leone’s continued growth and success.
To conclude the ceremony, Human Capital Management and Marketing & Corporate Communications teams presented welcome packages containing branded UBA items to all new employees.
