Top-Level Changes announced in Sierra Leone Police

In a bold effort to restore public trust and bolster operational readiness, the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) has initiated a major reshuffle of senior officers. The move follows two violent crime incidents that shook the nation: the fatal attack on a Catholic priest in Kenema and a critically wounded NASSIT manager in Bo. Inspector General William Fayia Sellu conducted visits to both cities prior to the reassignments.

According to a memo signed by AIG Musa James, Director of Human Resource Management, key changes were made across the Southern and Eastern regions:
• AIG Brima Kanneh, formerly Regional Commander for the South, is now at Freetown East, replaced by AIG Mustapha Kamara, ex-Director of Training.
• AIG Francis Moses Tower, Eastern Regional Commander, has been reassigned to head the Directorate of Professional Standards; AIG Francis Maindy takes over in the East, moving from Freetown East.
• Local Unit Commander (LUC) reassignments include:
• Kenema’s LUC Fambule → Port Loko; replaced by LUC Bob N. Mansaray from Kambia.
• Bo-West’s LUC Joseph Honor Kamara moved to Correctional Services; LUC Kabia (Motema Division) steps in.
• Bo-East’s LUC Sia Sandi and Moyamba’s LUC Foday Sesay have essentially swapped.
• Port Loko’s LUC Sao Vandi → Kambia Division.
• ACP Edison Vandi returns to the Lumley Division in Freetown as an LUC.

Authorities say this strategic redeployment underscores a commitment to accountability and proactive policing, aiming to reassure citizens and ensure robust protection of lives and property.
