“Step Aside From all Government Related Activities”…KKY Warns Former Guinea Ambassador

Chairman of the Presidential Initiative on Climate Change, Renewable Energy, and Food Security, Dr. Kandeh Yumkella, has admonished the former Guinea Ambassador Alimamy Bangura to refrain from all government related activities and to avoid the Kambia district.

This advisory follows an incident on December 31, 2024, where Guinean authorities intercepted a vehicle belonging to the Sierra Leone Embassy in Conakry. The vehicle was found carrying seven suitcases containing substances suspected to be cocaine, along with $2,000 in cash. The driver and another occupant were arrested at the scene. In response, the Sierra Leonean government recalled Ambassador Bangura to provide a full account of the incident.

In a video shared online, Dr. Yumkella emphasized that Bangura holds no official position in the current administration and is under investigation for serious allegations both domestically and internationally.

He urged residents of Kambia to disregard any directives or statements from Bangura until the investigations are concluded and his name is cleared.

Highlighting the gravity of the situation, Dr. Yumkella stated that Bangura should step aside from all political and governance-related activities, focusing instead on addressing the allegations against him.

He warned that failure to comply could result in further governmental actions.

This situation underscores the Sierra Leonean government’s commitment to addressing issues of corruption and maintaining the integrity of its diplomatic missions. Authorities have pledged a thorough investigation to ensure accountability for all involved
