68 Laws Passed in Parliament

Whilst presenting his report as a leader of Government business to SLPP Members at the 13th National Delegate Conference held on 8th -9th February 2023, the Leader of Government Business in Parliament, Mathew Nyuma, said that this current Parliament has passed 68 laws from the over 200 sittings of Parliamentarians, noting that these laws passed in this current parliament are far above the previous Parliament. He also threw light on the several constitutional amendments being done by this Parliament on certain laws which have helped to build the Country’s Human rights Record. “The Amendment of the 1965 Public Order Act, the Gender Act amongst others have put the country on the positive trajectory in terms of upholding the fundamental Human Rights of its citizenry”, he added.
He also spoke about the composition of Parliament and the gains made by Parliament which could not be forgotten in a hurry.
According to him, the APC is having the highest seat in Parliament but that does not stop the SLPP from passing laws that could better the lives of all and sundry.
