SierraLeoneans To Protest In New York Today

Report Reaching Voice of Salone Newspaper last night revealed that two set of groups will be staging a protest today in New York. The one group of protesters known as Concerned SierraLeoneans is planning to demonstrate infront of Dag Hammersjold Plaza UN Headquarters in New York to vent their anger against the rigging of the June 24 elections, human rights abuses among other things being perpetrated by the Bio led Government, while the other group will be protesting in solidarity with the SLPP Bio Government.
The two group of protesters will be holding placards with various inscriptions for and against the Bio Government.
A member of the concerned SierraLeoneans told Voice of Salone Newspaper that their demonstration is to let the world know about the atrocities, human rights violations, and election rigging perpetrated by the SLPP Bio led Government and for the international Community to sanction the SLPP Government and also for the ICC to take action against the Human rights abuses committed with impunity under the Bio leadership.
President Bio has been invited by the ICC for what the international court described as a bilateral dialogue on the fringes of the UNGA but a senior official in the SLPP Government has asserted that ICC Invitation with Bio has nothing to do with a query on complaints or whatsoever about what was going on in the country , as being claimed by members of the opposition All People’s Congress ( APC ) and Sierra Leoneans, including human rights activists.
“Bio has been invited by the ICC Prosecutor to discuss how to strengthen bilateral relations between the country and the ICC,” A senior official of Government told this press.
With regards to the planned demonstration, the official said the protests are going to be countered by the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) but he failed to elaborate how. Voice of Salone Newspaper radar is up to monitor the protest in New York by the two set of groups of SierraLeoneans.
