Security Manhunt intensifies… Koita & 2 Police Officers Apprehended

One of the alleged ringleaders of the November 26 coup, Amadu Koita, has been arrested by Security forces on Monday at the residence of a serving Police officer, Alimatu Hassanatu Bangura, attached to the inter-Pol section.
While updating the press at the usual Government Press briefing, the Minister of Information, Chernor Bah, informed pressmen that Amadu Koita was apprehended on Monday at around 11:30 Pm at Tree Planting, adding that the harbourer, Alimatu Bangura, a Sergeant with identification number 14120 attached to the Inter-Pol section was also arrested together with one Inspector John Kamara attached at the New England Ville Police station.
“In the same house where Koita was arrested another police officer in the person of John Momoneh Kamara was arrested”. The trio have been detained while helping the police in their investigation.
The Minister also revealed that 59 suspects were in police custody including 37 who are serving military officers, 5 ex-servicemen, 3 retired police officers, 10 civilians and 4 serving police officers.
He spoke about the significance of the nationwide curfew which is to isolate and apprehend the hoodlums and fugitives that caused security breach on November 26, and thanked the neighborhood of Tree Planting Community for providing reliable information leading to the arrest of one of the kingpins of the attempted coup.
He also shed light on the handsome reward which is NLe50,000 for anyone that provide reliable information leading to the arrest of the remaining fugitives.
In related news, the National Organizing Secretary of the APC, Bai Mamoud Bangura, was arrested for aiding and abetting a fugitive involved in the failed coup.
Mohamed K Jalloh, a former army officer who was alleged to have played an active role in the coup was arrested at Bai Mamoud’s residence. The authorities say several military Uniforms were discovered during the operation.
During his address to the nation on December 2nd, President Bio reiterated that the coup was a calculated ploy to overcome his Government through violence and illegitimate means and expressed his Government’s determination to follow the rule of law in responding to the crisis, and that anyone involved regardless of their status would face the full force of the law. “The November 26 coup could be treated as a law and order issue”.
The President also reaffirmed confidence in the state security apparatus and urged all law- abiding Citizens to fully corporate and support the government security aparatus in their investigation to bring to book all those responsible for the failed coup.
