Rokel Bank Prince Waleans Staff Honor Alma Mater Ahead of Centenary Celebration

In a spirited show of appreciation ahead of the Prince of Wales Secondary School’s Centenary Celebration Week, staff of Rokel Commercial Bank (RCBank) who are proud Prince Waleans honored their alma mater with a colorful attire display and a brief gathering at the bank’s headquarters on Siaka Stevens Street, Freetown, on Friday, April 4, 2025.

The event, led by RCBank’s Managing Director, Dr. Walton Gilpin, radiated pride and camaraderie, extending beyond the headquarters to several branches across the country.

“For searching Sierra Leone far and wide, no school can well be found; that sends forth truer gentlemen, or stands on firmer ground,” Dr. Gilpin proudly quoted the song.

As the grand finale of the Celebration Week approaches on Sunday, April 6, staff members will once again donated the school colors in a symbolic gesture of unity and enduring connection between past pupils and their beloved school.

Adding further prestige to the centenary events, the Prince of Wales (POW) Centenary Committee has named Dr. Sylvia Olayinka Blyden, OOR, as this year’s Distinguished Star Old Pupil. She will have the honor of raising the school flag on the morning of April 6, marking a historic moment as Lions and Lionesses march proudly through the streets of Freetown to celebrate 100 years of POW excellence.
