President Bio Thrills Harvesters at International General Conference

Destiny City, Dwazark, Freetown – Tuesday, 10th February 2026 – His Excellency President Dr Julius Maada Bio has called on Christian leaders and believers to renew their commitment to discipleship, leadership, and service as he officially opened the International General Conference of Harvest Intercontinental Ministries Unlimited (HIM-U).

Addressing a vibrant gathering of national and international delegates under the theme, “Igniting Passion for the Great Commission: Every Soul Reached, Every Saint Equipped,” President Bio described the conference as a timely moment of spiritual renewal and rededication — not only for HIM-U, but for the broader Christian community and the societies they serve.

The President warmly welcomed delegates from across the globe and commended the leadership of HIM-U for their steadfast dedication to spreading the Gospel. He paid special tribute to the Founder and Presiding Bishop, Bishop Darlingston G. Johnson, and Pastor Chrys Johnson for their visionary leadership and commitment to ministry.

He also recognised the National Overseer and Host, Bishop Julius Laggah, alongside Reverend Olayinka Laggah, applauding their spiritual guidance and consistent prayers for Sierra Leone.

Highlighting the crucial role of faith-based institutions, President Bio noted that churches remain pillars of hope, moral instruction, peacebuilding, and community support. He emphasised that the Great Commission goes beyond evangelism, stressing that it must be accompanied by intentional teaching, discipleship, and leadership development.

The President further underscored the invaluable contributions of women and young people in ministry and nation-building, while reaffirming Sierra Leone’s longstanding tradition of religious tolerance and peaceful coexistence.

In a personal reflection, President Bio shared that his Christian faith continues to shape his values and leadership approach, even as he serves all Sierra Leoneans regardless of religion or background. He encouraged faith-based organisations to deepen partnerships with government and other stakeholders, particularly in youth mentorship and community development initiatives.

Concluding his address, President Bio called for continued prayers for the nation and expressed optimism that the conference would ignite a renewed passion for the Great Commission — to the glory of God and the continued advancement of Sierra Leone.
