Newly elected Chairman of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP), Jimmy Batilo Songa, has reaffirmed the party’s commitment to conducting a transparent and credible election to select its next Flagbearer. However, he emphasized that the final decision will be shaped by both the party’s internal processes and the guidance of President Julius Maada Bio.
“The next Flagbearer of the SLPP will be chosen by the party, guided by the preferences of President Bio,” Songa reiterated.
As Chairman, Songa expressed his intention to unite all aspiring contenders in the spirit of party cohesion. He stressed that reconciliation and collaboration among members are crucial for the SLPP’s continued success.
He further pledged to maintain the highest standards of neutrality throughout the Flagbearer election process, assuring that whoever emerges as the frontrunner will receive the full support of all other contenders in the 2028 election.
Songa also committed to dismantling the various factions within the SLPP under his leadership.
He concluded by pledging to steer the party in the right direction and position it for victory in the next general elections. He called on all party members to remain united and focused, emphasizing that collective effort is essential for the SLPP’s progress and stability.
