Over irregularities in the Premier League Games… High Court Slams Injunction on SLFA & Premier League Board

The High Court of Sierra Leone has on Friday 3rd November,2023 slammed injunction on SLFA and Premier league Board stopping all premier league games from being played until the court decides the issues of irregularities in the SierraLeone Premier League.

The injunction granted by High Court was as a result of a lawsuit filed by Alusine Kamara and Ahmed Musa through their legal representative Teddy Koroma and Associates on behalf of Kamboi Eagle.

The injunction granted aims to address and resolve the ongoing issues pertaining to the reported irregularities within the Sierra Leone Premier League. As a result, all scheduled fixtures and games are now temporarily postponed pending the High Court’s determination of the matter. The court has set a date for the next hearing, which is scheduled to take place on November 10, 2023.

Challenging the decision of the court, the SierraLeone Premier League Board has in a press release dated 4th November,2023, has urged all the clubs to forge ahead with the fixtures as scheduled. “The SierraLeone premier league Board would like to inform that the public and premier league Board that the games for the 4th-5th November,2023 will proceed as scheduled”.

However, this action by the Premier league board to challenge the court order has come under public criticism with senior legal luminaries arguing that the SLPLB and SLFA has no power whatsoever to disregard the decision of the court not to talk about the High court.
