The Dutch Government through its Minister of Justice, David Van Weel, has formally requested extradition request for the most wanted Drug lord and trafficker, Jos Leijdekkers alias Bello Jos.  This confirmation was made by the Dutch Minister of Justice, David Van Weel in his recent post on X (formerly known as Twitter).

“Today the Dutch extradition for convicted drug lord was handed over to the authorities of Sierra Leone. I hope for swift action from the authorities of Sierra Leone and to find them on our side in this fight against international organized crime”, he stated.

Prior to this statement, the Government of Sierra Leone  initiated investigation since the news broke out about the hiding of Jos Liejdekkers in Sierra Leone who was caught on camera attending Church Service with the First Family on New Year’s Day.  Jos Leijdekkers has been disguisedly using the  name of Omar Sheriff.

Police report indicates that due to their open-source investigation, they have not seen any Omar Sheriff living in SierraLeone for the past six months.

The inspector General explained the rationale behind the open- source investigation which aimed at identifying the true identity of jos Leijdekkers.  He spoke about the special investigation unit established to analyze open-source data, including photographs circulating on social media and other public platforms.

According to him, “the open- source data we examined is from publicly accessible websites and social media. These platforms have helped us generate actionable intelligence”, he added, noting that this investigation has led them to establish that the name being used by the alleged drug trafficker in Sierra Leone is Omar sheriff. “We have affixed the picture circulating on social media platforms and the person has been identified as umar Sheriff. We have visited several locations linked to the individual, but we have not been able to locate him so far”, IG Sellu said, while calling on the general public to provide any confidential information that might aid in identifying and apprehending the suspect.

However, many liked-minded SierraLeoneans are challenging the Police report, describing it as inaccurate and full of fabrication.

They also accused the police of protecting the Government at all cost and preventing them from facing international embarrassment should they disclose the location of the Drug Trafficker.

Despite the police report which aimed at clearing the doubts, many people are still holding on  firm conviction that the Drug Kingpin is still hiding in Sierra Leone and has been kept in safe location. While others are alleging that the Drug Kingpin has left SierraLeone few days ago through the help of top Government officials who have made all necessary arrangement for him to seek refuge in Morocco.

While all these rumors and speculations are ongoing, report emanates that the Government of President Bio is not going to corporate with the Dutch Government in any extradition if the Drug Baron is found living or hiding in Sierra Leone.

According to our informants, certain top Government officials especially those who are benefiting from the Cocaine network are pushing and piling pressure for the Government to deny the Dutch extradition for obvious reason.  “There is no extradition treaty between Sierra Leone and Netherlands”, Our sources whispered to this newspaper that this is the discussion that is ongoing in various quarters in the Governance circle.

Rumors, however, indicate that if the Government accepts the request and confirmed that Bello Jos living in Sierra Leone, that could cause serious embarrassment and putting the country credibility at stake.

As rumors and opinions are taking the centre stage, Many SLPP sympathizer are proffering reason why the Government should reject the Extradition Request if at all Bello Jos is hiding In Sierra Leone.

Referencing Adebayor issue- a social media advocate as a grounds for what they meant as “what goes around, comes around”, Many SLPPiers are now asserting when Adebayo was provoking unrest in Sierra Leone, the SLPP Government made a formal request to the Dutch Government, seeking for his extradition, but the Dutch Authorities turned down their request, citing no proof to support the allegations levelled against Adebayo that could warrant his extradition.

The Dutch Government, according to our source, outrightly rejected the Government of Sierra Leone Extradition request for Adebayo even though the then Minister of Justice, Mohamed Lamin Tarawallie, travelled to Amsterdam to present his case against Adebayo.

As things unfold, Sierra Leoneans are patiently waiting to see whether the Government of Sierra Leone is willing to cooperate with the Dutch Authorities or not.
