Over Corruption Allegations… Citizens Call on Gov’t To set aside Andrew Kaikai
Since the starling confession was made by Andrew Jaiah Kaikai about receiving huge gifts while serving as Chief Immigration Officers which attracted the attention of the Ant-Corruption Commission to spring into action, liked-minded SierraLeoneans have been calling on President Bio to set aside Andrew Jaiah Kaikai as Executive Director of National Drugs Enforcement Agency until the investigation decides.
Andrew Kaikai has been under ACC’s scrutiny to answer to corruption case relating to his admission of accepting extravagant gifts including: Mercedes G-wagon, Toyota fortune and Toyota Land Cruiser from his friend during his tenure as CIO. The gifts have been considered by many as too huge that demand investigation to know what is cooking underneath between the giver and the receiver.
Despite the significant disclosure, Kaikia has been approved as the Executive Director of the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency.
His approval has come under questioning making one to go with the impression that was game played behind-the-scene.
However, as the investigation commences, this press has taken the bold step to examine the prices of the vehicles from a car dealer in the United States of America.
According to the anonymous car dealer, he revealed that the price of three vehicles are vary according to the mileage and years, but affirmed that the least price of such vehicles are within the range of $370,000 and that could be determined according to the years and mileage.
The Anti-Corruption Act section 51 provides clear directive concerning such cases (1) Public officer who solicits or accepts any gift, fee, or personal benefit as an inducement or reward for any act or omission in the performance of his duties commit an offense”. Conviction should lead to substantial fines or imprisonment for at least one year.
