Orange Money, an appendage of Orange- SL has on Friday 18th August,2023 partnered with Conex Energy in order for drivers and vehicle owners to be using the Orange Money Service to purchase petroleum products in all Conex gas stations across the country.
In his opening statement, the CEO of Orange Money, David Mansaray, expressed his excitement about the partnership, adding that Orange Money subscribers are now eligible to purchase diesel, Petrol, and other petroleum products using the Orange Money Service. He also stated that the vision is to transform Sierra Leone into a cashless society for extreme situations like this.
The Orange Money CEO recounted his personal experience of needing fuel for his vehicle at one particular night, where he was not with physical cash, but was with money in his orange money wallet, adding that this situation has warranted him to sign a partnership agreement with Conex to address such challenge.
He said: “With this partnership, Orange Money could save the night time cash handling risk”, also intimating how this would help to change the lives of people who may want to purchase fuel at night.
In his part, Avrajit Kar, CEO of Conex Energy, emphasized the significance of the partnership, which according to him, is aimed at digitizing SierraLeone and also highlighted the convenience and transparency in using Orange Money for payment of petroleum products at Conex.
“All Conex retail outlet, Orange money is going to be available in buying lubricant and other items”, he said.
Abibatu Baxter, Head of Marketing, Partnership and Strategy for Orange Money, explained how to use the service on both smartphones and local phones.
“Smartphone users would download the Orange Money App and scan the QR code, while local phone users could dial #144# and select option 4”, She added.
The program was climaxed with the official launch of the partnership and was followed by a promotion offering to every Orange Money customers to stand a chance to win one hundred liters of fuel for purchase of fuel at Conex stations.The promotion will end in August.
