Nothing Will Stop the Electoral Review Committee from Carrying out its Work …ICPNC Executive Secretary avers

The Executive Secretary for the Independent Commission for peace and National Cohesion, Hawa Samai, has stated
Categorically during the usual Government press briefing held on 5TH December,2023 that the Electoral Review Committee which was launched by President Bio to investigate the June 24 general elections will carry out its work as agreed upon in the peace communique signed between the Government and the APC inside this year.
She said the Committee has been constituted and the membership of the Committee are in constant touch to see that their work commence soon, adding that nothing will prevent the committee from carrying its work. “We have not pushed aside the Electoral Review Committee. And I want to update you all that as of even last week things were happening related to the work of the committee”, said ICPNC Executive Secretary.
Hawa Samai statement came in the wake following rumors peddled in various quarters that the Government is doing everything possible to prevent the Electoral Review Committee from carrying out its work.
Samai also underscored the importance of unity and solidarity during these challenging times, highlighting that civic duty goes beyond political affiliations.
She passionately called upon citizens to come together, transcending divisive narratives and working towards a common goal of healing and rebuilding.
The tragedy of November 26, which had left the nation in shock, was acknowledged by Samai as a somber chapter in the country’s history. However, she firmly advocated for its depoliticization, emphasizing the need for a shared commitment to address the aftermath with empathy, resilience, and a focus on the greater good.
