NatCA Hosts ITU Workshop on Telecommunications Quality of Service in Freetown

The National Communications Authority (NatCA) has hosted a significant workshop and ITU Study Group 12 session on Telecommunications Quality of Service (QoS) at Mamba Point, Lagoonda in Freetown.

The event, held in collaboration with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), brought together experts, regulators, and industry stakeholders to discuss evolving consumer demands and global standards for QoS.

“The Quality of Service needs of consumers keep evolving. Hence, the need for this workshop cannot be overemphasized,” said a NatCA official during the opening remarks.

The ITU, a specialized agency of the United Nations for information and communication technologies, aims to develop and promote global standards that ensure citizens everywhere enjoy reliable, high-quality telecommunications services.

Once these standards are defined, the responsibility lies with national regulatory authorities like NatCA to enforce them. NatCA ensures that private sector service providers adhere to these standards, ultimately improving service delivery and protecting consumer interests.
