One of the Top GSM Operators in SierraLeone, Africell, has on Friday 17th November,2023 launched another edition of the Africell Freetown marathon 2023 at the Company Beach Sport Arena in Aberdeen.
According to the organizers of the event, this Year’s Africell marathon is going to be celebrated in Grand style as they encouraged all Athletics to prepare as the event will commence on 10th December 2023.
Africell in partnership with Street child is going to organize this groundbreaking event.
In his submission, Africell’s Chief Corporate Affairs Manager, Joe Abass Bangura, gave a brief synopsis of the event, furthering how the marathon is for Africell subscribers to exercise as it is very useful for their human existence.
He also explained about the various categories in the marathon which include full Marathon, 10 kilometre, halfway marathon and 5 kilometre marathon as all of them will commence on Sunday 10th December 2023 at 6:am.
The first three winners for every categories will stand a chance to win cash prices, he said, adding that this marathon is organized for both male and Female.
The registration for the long distance marathon is NLe150 and the halfway is NLe100 while the 5 Kilometer and 10 Kilometer are free of charge for registration.
Dominic Moore, Head of Marketting SierraLeone Athletics Association made a brief statement about the organization of the Marathon,which he said, has attracted lots of Athletics that are looking forward for this great opportunity, and expressed his gratitude to Africell for this wonderful idea.
“The relationship between Africell and Sierra Leone Athletics Association will grow from strength to strength and it is hopeful that with all hands on deck this marathon will reach international level”.
Mr. Alfred T Dura is the only Certified Route Grade B Measurer who is responsible for drawing the route of this year’s marathon.
