In a very disappointing mood, the Caretaker Minister of Energy, Hon. Kandeh Yumkella, has during a stakeholder’s engagement at Kissy Dockyard to enhance the country electricity, had exposed the endemic corruption at EDSA which has greatly contributed to the loss of revenue generation of the institution.
Without mincing his words, KKY asserted that there are many issues in EDSA, noting how the institution is losing 60% of its revenue generation which is a cause for alarm.
He calls for full audit of EDSA stating how there are certain payments for electricity tariff that are not going directly into EDSA system, but being transferred elsewhere which has affected the revenue generation of the entity.
To address the Electricity crisis in the future, KK spoke about the Companies that have expressed interest to provide electricity supply to EDSA, which in turn, is expected by the institution to pay for the service rendered to them. “EDSA is not a charitable institution as they must be able to pay for services rendered to them and not the Ministry of Finance”, he added, and called for a complete dissect of the Institution for its to be efficient and effective.
